Fatal shooting in Ammoudara following a road conflict
On Tuesday, May 5, a 54-year-old man, Kostas Parasiris, shot and killed a 20-year-old man, Nikitas Gemistos, in Ammoudara, Heraklion, Crete. The perpetrator blocked the victim's car with his own vehicle to force a stop, followed by a confrontation that escalated into fatal gunfire. The suspect surrendered to the Malevizi Police Department shortly after the incident and confessed to the murder. Authorities arrested the suspect's wife for complicity, as she was reportedly present in the vehicle during the shooting. According to reports, the suspect targeted the victim believing him responsible for a 2023 road accident that resulted in the death of his own son. Police and emergency services attempted to perform CPR on the victim at the scene, but he succumbed to his injuries at the University Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI). Some accounts suggest the victim may have also been armed during the altercation. The case remains under investigation by local authorities.
