Turkey unveils Yildirimhan ballistic missile prototype at SAHA Expo
At the SAHA Expo held in Istanbul from May 5 to May 9, 2026, Turkey unveiled a prototype of the Yildirimhan ballistic missile. According to Turkish reports, the system is designed with an estimated range of 6,000 kilometers, marking a significant advancement in the country's missile development program. The missile is reportedly capable of reaching speeds between Mach 9 and Mach 25. This project follows previous developments like the Yildirim and Tayfun missile systems. While the prototype suggests an intent to enhance long-range deterrence and offensive capabilities, its operational status remains in the early stages. Reports indicate the system could potentially support nuclear payloads, a claim that Turkey has officially denied. The prototype displayed in Istanbul features the name of Kemal Ataturk inscribed on its surface.
