Cyprus government plans regulatory reforms for casino authority
The Cypriot government is discussing potential reforms with the Gaming and Casino Supervision Authority (Apek) to improve its operational efficiency and regulatory oversight. The discussions were announced during the submission of the authority's 2024-2025 activity report to the presidential office. The report was presented to Deputy Minister to the President, Irene Piki, by the authority's leadership, including Chairman Dr. Pieris Chouridis, Vice Chairman Marios Pieri, and Executive Director Charis Tsangaridis. Piki highlighted the importance of the casino resort project as a strategic investment for the nation, emphasizing that effective regulation is vital for its continued development. Dr. Chouridis stated that the report marks the conclusion of the previous board's term and details the operational and financial status of the integrated casino resort. Future goals for the authority include hosting an international conference. The government and the authority are currently evaluating specific measures to streamline the entity's supervisory framework.
