Minister of energy visits Limassol to discuss industrial and economic development

On Monday, the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Michalis Damianou, conducted an official visit to Limassol accompanied by ministry officials. The visit was initiated by the Limassol Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEL) to address local business challenges. Minister Damianou toured several industrial units belonging to EVEL members to assess operational conditions and growth potential. Following these site visits, a meeting was held at the EVEL headquarters with local stakeholders, including mayors, the leadership of the Limassol Provincial Self-Government Organization (EOA), and representatives of industrial area boards. Discussions focused on critical infrastructure issues such as spatial adequacy, safety, and the optimization of licensing processes. The participants also examined energy concerns, specifically high electricity costs, the implementation of photovoltaic systems, and energy storage solutions. Additionally, the meeting addressed the ongoing difficulties regarding the recruitment of qualified human resources. The visit concluded with the Minister attending a session of the EVEL Board of Directors to discuss these findings further.
