Improved water supply conditions reported in Paphos
Charalambos Pittokopitis, President of the Paphos District Self-Government Organization (EOA), announced that water conditions in the province have significantly improved. The Mavrokolympos dam is currently at full capacity with approximately 2 million cubic meters of water. The Asprokremmos dam has reached 40% capacity, showing marked progress compared to 24% last year. Desalination plants are operating at full capacity, producing 20,000 cubic meters daily in Kouklia and 12,000 cubic meters in Potima. Additionally, the capacity of the Asprokremmos water treatment plant has been upgraded to process between 32,000 and 42,000 cubic meters per day. These improvements allow the Department of Water Development and the Ministry of Agriculture more flexibility in allocating water to the primary sector. However, officials clarified that water usage restrictions will not be fully lifted, and continued prudent water consumption is required.
