Human remains found in crocodile in South Africa
South African police recovered human remains from a 500-kilogram crocodile near the town of Komatipoort in the Mpumalanga province. The remains were confirmed through DNA analysis to belong to 59-year-old hotel owner Gabriel Batista, who went missing after his car was swept away by floodwaters while crossing a river bridge last Monday. A police diving unit and helicopter support were used in a recovery operation to retrieve the crocodile, which was found to have a distended stomach. Upon examination, authorities discovered human limbs and six pairs of shoes inside the animal's digestive system. While Batista's remains were identified, none of the shoes belonged to him. Experts noted that crocodiles cannot digest plastic, which explains why the footwear remained intact. Police are currently investigating whether these items are linked to other local residents who may have gone missing while crossing the frequently flooded bridge. The incident is being treated as a serious matter by local authorities.
