Deployment of meteorological network in Cyprus under Dig.I.Water project

The Dig.I.Water project, aimed at enhancing smart irrigation and agricultural resilience against climate change, has entered an advanced implementation phase in Cyprus. A network of ten new meteorological stations is being established to support cross-border cooperation between Greece and Cyprus. These stations are located in Evrychou, Saittas, Athalassa, Vavatsina, Tochni, Xylotymbou, Achna, Kiti, Achelia, and Argaka. The geographical spread covers diverse microclimates, ranging from the lowest elevation at 10 meters in Kiti to 636 meters in Saittas. The collected data will be integrated into a new digital platform to provide precision information for producers and policymakers. This infrastructure project serves to improve water efficiency and agricultural decision-making across Crete, the Aegean islands, and Cyprus. All units are designed to monitor specific agronomical conditions to facilitate targeted irrigation services.
