Nicolas Englezou discusses career transition after early retirement

Former professional footballer Nicolas Englezou has announced his retirement from active play at the age of 31. In an interview with the PASP press office, he emphasized the necessity of planning for life after sports. Englezou began his career in the youth academies of Campus Sportivo and Apollon, eventually signing his first professional contract with AEK Athens at age 18. During his professional career, he played primarily for AEK Larnaca, while also representing Nea Salamina, Anorthosis, Aris Limassol, Doxa, and Karmiotissa. He attributed his successful transition to his decision to invest in education while still competing as an active player. He is now urging current athletes to take advantage of educational programs provided by the players' union. Englezou framed this preparation as an essential step for any athlete facing the uncertainties of a professional sports career.
