Cyprus civil defence to conduct nationwide evacuation drills in May

The Cyprus Civil Defence Force announced that nationwide evacuation drills will take place across all districts throughout May. These exercises are designed to enhance coordination between government agencies and local authorities in preparation for the upcoming wildfire season. Public participation is encouraged to ensure the protection of lives, property, and the environment. Additionally, the government has completed a revision of the "Polyvios" emergency plan as of mid-April. Civil defence teams visited every community to tailor emergency procedures to specific local needs. These revisions were conducted in direct cooperation with local Community Councils. The initiative is part of a broader national strategy to improve emergency response capabilities before summer. Authorities aim to ensure that residents are familiar with evacuation protocols through these scheduled drills.
