Cyprus hosts 10th Copenhagen Group conference on sports integrity
The 10th Copenhagen Group conference is taking place on May 5-6 at the Hilton Hotel in Nicosia, Cyprus. This event, typically held in Strasbourg, gathers over 40 representatives from various international institutions to address the manipulation of sporting events and sports integrity. The conference opening occurred on May 5 from 9:30 to 10:30. Concurrently, Cyprus hosted the second joint meeting between the Committee for Ethics and Protection of Sport (EDPA) and the National Platform for Sports Integrity (EPATHLA). This collaboration follows an initial meeting in Ancient Olympia in March 2025 and a Memorandum of Understanding signed in June 2024. The discussions focus on deepening cross-border cooperation, exchanging expertise, and harmonizing procedures to prevent match-fixing. The meeting highlights the ongoing efforts of both Greece and Cyprus to strengthen accountability and transparency in athletics. These events are positioned within the broader context of Cyprus's presidency of the European Union.
