Arsos community council denies rumors regarding the sale of Trozena village
The Arsos-Gerovasa/Trozena community council has officially denied social media allegations that the abandoned village of Trozena has been sold in its entirety. Local authorities clarified that while a developer, linked to the Cyprus-registered company THV Home Resort (Trozena) Ltd established in April, has purchased specific private plots, the village itself has not been sold. The council dismissed claims that public access to the area or the Church of Agios Georgios is restricted, stating that the site remains open to visitors. Contrary to viral reports alleging an Israeli acquisition and the barring of the public, the council affirmed that no security guards have been deployed. Officials reported that the development project is focused on hospitality and agritourism, including a winery, and has provided employment for 10 local families. The council noted that the developer has funded maintenance for the church, which remains under the jurisdiction of the Metropolis of Paphos. Authorities have encouraged anyone who was denied entry to file a formal report and announced plans to pursue legal action against those spreading what they term as fake news.
