Fifteen-year-old student collaborates with NASA on potential deep space mission

Victor Giannikopoulos, a 15-year-old student, has announced a collaboration with NASA to develop a mission concept aimed at reaching interstellar space. The student, who has participated in science competitions since age 13, proposed an initiative that functions as a successor to the 1977 Voyager missions. According to the student, the project seeks to utilize modern technology to reach the interstellar region currently occupied by the Voyager probes in a shorter timeframe. The proposed mission intends to explore other solar systems, specifically mentioning the Camelopardalis constellation. The collaboration involves communication with NASA officials following the submission of his research ideas developed at the Balkan School. The mission target for implementation is approximately 2035. Giannikopoulos, who aspires to combine medicine and astrophysics, attributes his interest in science to his parents' early influence.
