Cypriot church donates 15 buses to the national guard

On Monday, the Church of Cyprus signed a contract at the Archbishopric to purchase 15 buses for donation to the National Guard. The agreement was signed by Archbishop Georgios, Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas, and a contractor representative in the presence of National Guard Chief Lieutenant General Emmanuel Theodorou. The buses are intended to transport contract and conscripted soldiers to and from their military units. This initiative follows a decision by the Holy Synod to support national defense needs within the church’s financial capabilities. During the event, Archbishop Georgios expressed the church's ongoing commitment to supporting defense efforts. Minister Palmas thanked the church for its contribution and reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening the country's defense capabilities in response to the presence of Turkish troops in the northern part of the island.
