Roadpol initiates European truck and bus enforcement campaign
The Cyprus Police, as part of the European Traffic Police Network (Roadpol), has launched a week-long enforcement and awareness campaign targeting truck and bus drivers. The initiative runs from Monday, May 4, to Sunday, May 10, 2026, across all member states of the European network. This marks the second campaign of its kind this year focusing on commercial vehicle traffic. Authorities will prioritize checking the validity of driver and vehicle documentation, the use of speed limiters, and the proper maintenance of tachographs. Officers will also monitor compliance with mandatory driving and working hours for professional drivers and ensure the technical mechanical fitness of the vehicles. Special attention will be paid to speeding and other traffic violations known to contribute to serious and fatal road accidents. The police are intensifying patrols across the road network to enhance safety and have called upon all professional drivers to comply with existing legislation.
