Printing of ballots for the parliamentary elections begins in Cyprus

The printing of 618,000 ballots for the parliamentary elections scheduled for May 24, 2026, officially began at the Government Printing Office. General Election Commissioner Elikkos Ilia and Deputy Director of the Government Printing Office Charalampos Violaris inspected the process, which is expected to conclude by May 14. A total of 753 candidates from 19 parties and independent groups are competing for parliamentary seats for the 2026-2031 term. Ballots are being produced on security paper in specific colors for each district: Nicosia (white), Limassol (yellow), Famagusta (blue/cyan), Larnaca (red), Paphos (green), and Kyrenia (orange). Most ballots are double-sided due to the record number of candidates, with the exception of the single-sided Larnaca ballot. The Ministry of Interior is preparing to operate 1,217 polling stations staffed by 6,500 personnel. Reports also indicate the Ministry of Interior has requested additional funds from the Ministry of Finance to cover increased election costs, including wage adjustments for staff. The 'Pou psifizo' application will be available to voters before May 15 to help identify their designated polling centers.
