Calls for disclosure of the Mafia State report before elections
The Volt party is demanding the immediate publication of the findings regarding the 'Mafia State' investigation before the upcoming parliamentary elections. The report, prepared by a team of four inspectors led by Gabrielle Louise McIntyre, was submitted to the Anti-Corruption Authority on April 30, approximately 25 days before the election date. Author Makarios Drousiotis has also requested the report's release, stating his willingness to accept responsibility if the investigation concludes he acted as a slanderer. While the Anti-Corruption Authority has not yet set a release date, it is widely expected that the full document will not be published before the elections due to the volume of the material. The Authority indicated that it may release only the conclusions, while any potential evidence of criminal activity will be forwarded to the Legal Service. The Legal Service retains the final authority regarding potential criminal prosecutions. Volt has challenged other political parties to clarify their stance on whether the findings should be released publicly before voters go to the polls.
