Cyprus expands summer public schools program for 2026

The Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth has announced the expansion of its Summer Public Schools (SPS) program for the 2026 school year, increasing the total number of participating schools from 58 to 64. The program will operate across all five districts of Cyprus from June 22 to July 24, covering 39 primary schools and 25 kindergartens. Eligible participants include children currently in grades 1 through 5 of public primary schools, while 6th-grade graduates are excluded. For kindergartens, attendance is limited to children born between September 1, 2019, and March 31, 2021. The daily schedule runs from 7:45 a.m. to 1:05 p.m., with an optional afternoon extension until 4:00 p.m. While the program is provided free of charge, parents must pay for lunch if they opt for the extended hours. Educational activities include creative arts, music, physical education, and Greek language support for migrant students.
