Elderly man rescued from catamaran near Konnos Bay
A 78-year-old man was rescued yesterday after his catamaran was found approximately one metre from rocks near Konnos Bay, Ayia Napa. The operation began around noon and involved the Ayia Napa marina staff, the Ayia Napa Port Police, and the Rescue Centre. The Port Police vessel successfully retrieved the elderly man, who was the sole passenger, under difficult conditions. Once the man was safe, crews secured the vessel and towed it back to the Ayia Napa marina. The towing process lasted approximately three hours. Upon arrival, the man disembarked in a state of shock. Pavlos Pavlou, who assisted in the operation, noted that his son, Andreas Pavlou, acted as the operation captain. All parties involved were commended for their cooperation during the mission.
