Copyright concerns raised regarding Greek Eurovision 2026 entry

The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is scheduled for May 16 in Vienna, where artist Akylas will represent Greece with the song 'Ferto'. Following his first rehearsal in Vienna, the performer faced public scrutiny regarding potential musical similarities between his entry and the song 'Theleis bouzoukia pame' by Tasos Bougas. During an appearance on the Skai television program 'Dekatianoï' on May 3, Bougas acknowledged the public discourse surrounding the alleged plagiarism. While Bougas noted that he perceives clear musical similarities between the two tracks, he explicitly stated that he does not intend to pursue legal action. He emphasized that the situation does not personally bother him, as he creates music to be enjoyed by the public. Instead of filing a complaint, Bougas publicly offered his support to Akylas. He expressed his desire for the Greek representative to succeed and win the competition. No formal official complaints have been lodged by the Greek broadcaster or the European Broadcasting Union regarding the matter.
