Iran to convert damaged university site into war museum
Iranian authorities announced on Saturday plans to convert part of the Isfahan University of Technology into a war museum following damages from strikes attributed to U.S.-Israeli forces in March. Zafarollah Kalantari, a university official, stated the site will be preserved as a historical document of scientific oppression. The Iranian news agency IRNA estimated the infrastructure damage at approximately $11 million. Officials report that over 30 universities across the country, including those in Tehran, were affected during the conflict that began in February. Plans for a new campus building and the procurement of modern equipment have been initiated to replace the damaged infrastructure. A ceasefire between the involved parties has remained in effect since April 8. While Iran claims extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, the geopolitical context reflects the regional conflict that expanded earlier this year.
