Met Gala 2026 takes place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

The 2026 Met Gala is scheduled for the first Monday of May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This annual event serves as the primary fundraiser for the museum's Costume Institute and marks the opening of a new exhibition featuring approximately 400 historical garments spanning 5,000 years. The central theme for this year is 'Fashion is Art,' with an aesthetic focus on 'Costume Art.' Anna Wintour is overseeing the organization of the event. Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, and Venus Williams have been named as co-chairs, with Beyoncé making her first appearance since 2016. Other committee members include Sabrina Carpenter, Doja Cat, and Lena Dunham. Approximately 450 guests are expected to attend the red carpet festivities. Additionally, a pre-party hosted by Vogue took place at Madame Tussauds to preview the event's artistic themes.
