Fatal drone attacks reported in Odessa and Kherson regions
Russian drone strikes in Ukraine resulted in multiple casualties across the Odessa and Kherson regions. In Odessa, Governor Oleh Kiper reported two deaths and damage to port infrastructure and residential buildings. Separately, in Kherson, local officials reported two deaths and seven injuries following a strike on a bus, with regional Governor Oleksandr Prokudin identifying the victims as public sector workers. The Ukrainian Air Force reported a large-scale aerial attack involving over 260 drones and a ballistic missile overnight. While sources cite differing numbers regarding the total interceptions, reports indicate that Russia launched a record number of long-range drones in April. In response to ongoing bombardment, Kyiv has increased strikes on Russian military and energy targets. Amidst the conflict, Russia has proposed a ceasefire for May 9, which Kyiv is currently reviewing.
