Yemeni coast guard reports hijacking of oil tanker Eureka
The Yemeni coast guard announced that the oil tanker M/T Eureka was hijacked by unidentified armed men off the coast of the Shabwa province. The attackers boarded the vessel and redirected it toward the Gulf of Aden in the direction of Somali territorial waters. Yemeni authorities report that the location of the tanker has been identified and that rescue efforts are currently underway to secure the vessel and its crew. Separately, the British maritime security agency UKMTO reported that a bulk carrier had encountered a suspicious green-hulled skiff accompanied by a fishing vessel 155 kilometers southwest of the port of Mukalla. It remains unclear if the two maritime incidents are related. Officials are focusing on tracking the ship's current movements and ensuring the safety of all crew members on board. Further measures are being coordinated by the coast guard to resolve the situation and recover the ship.
