Bus accident in Nayarit, Mexico leaves 11 dead

On Friday, a tourist bus carrying passengers from Jalisco state veered off the road and overturned near Amatlan de Canas in the western Mexican state of Nayarit. Local authorities and the Attorney General's Office confirmed that 11 people died in the incident. Six passengers were pronounced dead at the scene, while five others died later at a hospital. Over 30 people were injured. The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation by local authorities. Mexico has a history of fatal road accidents, including a collision involving a freight train in September and a bus crash in February 2025 that resulted in over 40 deaths.
