Staircase collapse at Araxos airport injures three media members

On Friday, May 1st, a boarding staircase collapsed at Araxos Airport during a ceremony to name a new Boeing 737-8 aircraft from TUI as 'Patra'. Approximately 10 to 15 media personnel had gathered on the staircase to capture footage of the event at the direction of company officials. The collapse resulted in about 10 people falling to the ground. Three individuals, including a journalist, a photographer, and a cameraman, were transported to the University Hospital of Patras with injuries to their limbs. The journalist reportedly suffered more serious injuries and may require surgery, while the others sustained lighter wounds. Other present media members received minor injuries that did not require hospitalization. Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident, with some reports suggesting the staircase was not equipped to support the weight of the gathered group.
