House explosion in Queens injures multiple police officers
On October 23, a powerful explosion occurred at a residence in Queens, New York, after police responded to a domestic dispute call at approximately 2:42 a.m. Officers arrived following reports of a 50-year-old man armed with a knife who was allegedly threatening family members while smelling of gasoline and gas. When officers attempted to enter the property, a massive explosion triggered by the gas ignited, causing the house to collapse and damaging adjacent buildings. Reports differ slightly on the exact number of injured officers, with one source stating eight and another citing seven, all of whom sustained burns and head injuries. Despite the shockwave throwing them to the ground, the officers proceeded to rescue several civilians, including children, from the debris. The suspect remains missing, and authorities are currently investigating the rubble, where a body has been discovered but not yet identified. All injured officers were treated at a local hospital and have since been discharged.
