Arrests made following arson cases and grenade explosion in Paphos

Paphos authorities have arrested several individuals in connection with a series of arson attacks and a grenade explosion. A 41-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were remanded in custody until their trial at the Paphos Assize Court on June 8, 2026, following their mid-April arrest for vehicle and building arsons, conspiracy, and money laundering. In a separate incident on April 30, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., a military-grade hand grenade exploded in the yard of a home in Agia Marinouda, Paphos, damaging windows of a couple aged 74 and 75. A 59-year-old man was arrested in connection with this explosion and an attempted arson at the same residence involving a gas cylinder on April 28 or 29. Police investigations suggest the attack on the elderly couple may be linked to previous financial disputes. The authorities are continuing to examine evidence and evaluate potential connections between these criminal activities. All suspects remain in custody pending further legal proceedings.
