Parliamentary elections: Fidias Panayiotou's party renamed – The change and the reason

The political party initially named "Direct Democracy" was not approved by the Ministry because it alluded to a form of government. Adding "Cyprus" to the name resolved the issue, although official approval is still pending. MEP Fidias Panagiotou is the temporary chairman until internal party elections. This development allows Panagiotou to begin forming a candidate list for the upcoming parliamentary elections in May. Publication in the official gazette is expected next Friday.
