Recent drug-related arrests in Limassol and Larnaca
On May 3, 2026, the Cyprus Anti-Drug Unit (YKAN) conducted two separate operations involving narcotics. In Limassol, a 33-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested after a search of their home revealed 136 grams of cannabis, 12 grams of cocaine, 2 grams of methamphetamine, 20 ecstasy tablets, smoking equipment, a precision scale, and a large sum of cash. In a separate incident in Larnaca, three people were remanded for seven days following a raid on an apartment where authorities found 600 grams of plant matter, 346 grams of other substances, numerous pills, 100 bottles containing unknown substances, and 815 euros. During the Larnaca operation, two suspects attempted to escape by jumping from a second-story window; they were subsequently hospitalized with injuries and identified as residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus. Both groups of suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue. The Limassol case remains under scrutiny by the local YKAN branch. Police are processing evidence and conducting further inquiries into both incidents.
