Police investigations into two separate drug-related incidents in Limassol and Larnaca
On Wednesday, a bag containing suspected narcotics was discovered on a staircase at the Limassol District Court, leading to a police cordon and an ongoing investigation by the Anti-Drug Unit (YKAN). Authorities are currently examining security footage to determine how the substance bypassed building screening procedures. Separately, in a coordinated operation on May 3, Limassol police arrested a 33-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman after a house search yielded 136 grams of cannabis, 12 grams of cocaine, 20 ecstasy tablets, methamphetamine, a precision scale, and cash. In a distinct case in Larnaca, the District Court ordered the seven-day detention of three individuals following a raid on an apartment. During that operation, two suspects attempted to flee by jumping from a second-story window, resulting in injuries that required hospital treatment. Investigations confirmed that the two injured individuals were residing in Cyprus illegally. YKAN continues to manage all three investigations.
