Eurostat reports unemployment figures for Cyprus and the European Union for March 2026
According to data released by Eurostat, the unemployment rate in Cyprus reached 4.3% in March 2026, marking a slight increase from 4.2% in February. The total number of unemployed individuals in Cyprus remained at 23,000, consistent with the previous month and down from 24,000 in March 2024. In the eurozone, the unemployment rate fell from 6.3% in February to 6.2% in March 2026, representing a total of 10.984 million unemployed people. The unemployment rate for the European Union as a whole remained stable at 6.0%, with the total number of unemployed individuals estimated at 13.226 million. The youth unemployment rate for those under 25 was 14.9% in the eurozone and 15.4% in the European Union. Despite the slight monthly increase in Cyprus, the country's unemployment remains lower than the eurozone average. Other member states reported higher figures, such as Greece at 9.0%, Spain at 10.3%, and Finland at 10.4%. The total reduction in unemployment across the eurozone compared to February was 63,000 people.
