A technical school in Nicosia installed fingerprint/code/card-access toilet locks, prompting backlash from parents and students. The Confederation of Secondary Education Parents' Associations contacted the Ministry of Education, resulting in instructions to remove the device, which was deemed illegal. The president of the association, Loizos Constantinou, acknowledged past instances of schools locking toilets due to vandalism but asserted that restricting access is not the proper solution. A circular had previously been issued to schools to stop locking toilets.
