Department of Labor Inspection announces safety campaign for the manufacturing sector
The Department of Labor Inspection in Cyprus has scheduled a targeted inspection campaign for May and November 2026. The initiative focuses on the manufacturing sector to enhance workplace safety and ensure fair competition among businesses. Inspectors will evaluate employer compliance with legislation regarding health and safety training, risk management systems, and the implementation of documented risk assessments. The campaign was initiated due to the recurring frequency of workplace accidents and occupational diseases within this industry. Key identified hazards include unsuitable facility conditions, unprotected machinery, exposure to hazardous fumes or dust, and unsafe practices during metal welding and work at height. Employers are required to demonstrate that they have implemented sufficient preventive measures for their staff. The primary objective is to mitigate the causes of industrial accidents and dangerous occurrences reported in the country.
