Turkish Cypriot spokesperson criticizes Republic of Cyprus international agreements

Mehmet Dana, spokesperson for the Turkish Cypriot leader, stated that international agreements signed by the Republic of Cyprus without the participation of the Turkish Cypriot community violate the island's legal status. He argued that such actions undermine trust-building efforts necessary for a solution to the Cyprus problem. Dana specifically challenged remarks made by President Nikos Christodoulides regarding his dual role as leader of the Greek Cypriot community and President of the Republic. The Turkish Cypriot side rejected the description of Turkey as an occupying force, labeling it as contrary to reality. Furthermore, Dana noted that there are currently no active formal negotiation processes taking place.
