High public interest in board positions for state-owned organizations in Cyprus

The Advisory Council of Cyprus has concluded the application process for 94 board member positions across 12 semi-governmental organizations. A total of 1,282 applications were received, representing a 19% increase compared to the previous cycle. Government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis noted that the average age of applicants is 48.5 years. According to Council President George Arestis, the highest number of applications were for the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) with 206 submissions, and Cyta with 183. The Council has begun evaluating candidates and will submit a shortlist to the Council of Ministers, with each available position having three potential candidates selected. Remuneration for board members is generally 90 euros per session, increasing to 100 euros for major organizations like the EAC, Cyta, and the Cyprus Ports Authority. The Council of Ministers will make the final appointment decisions after reviewing the shortlist.
