Industrial production and producer price index data for early 2026
The Statistical Service reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) in industry for March 2026 reached 121.0 points, reflecting a 1.0% decrease compared to February 2026 and a 0.6% decline year-on-year. In March, the electricity supply sector saw a 6.9% monthly and 9.0% annual decrease in prices. Conversely, mining and quarrying, manufacturing, and water supply showed growth on an annual basis. Separate data for February 2026 indicated an industrial production index of 108.4 points, a 2.4% decline compared to February 2025. Manufacturing production in February saw mixed results, with gains in metal production and petroleum refining, contrasted by losses in furniture manufacturing and machinery equipment. For the January-February 2026 period, the overall production index rose by 0.1% year-on-year. These figures highlight shifts in both industrial output and cost structures within the sector.
