Overcrowding issues reported at Athalassa Hospital

The Mental Health Nursing branch of the PASYDY union has reported severe overcrowding at Athalassa Hospital, stating that patients are being forced to sleep on mattresses on the floor. Although the number of beds was increased from 20 to 30 in buildings originally designed for 20, the union reports that conditions have deteriorated significantly. Nursing staff had previously warned that exceeding the facility's capacity would lead to unmanageable and unsafe conditions for both patients and personnel. The union argues that the current infrastructure is insufficient for the increased patient load, compromising care quality and human dignity. Despite repeated requests for meetings and action plans over the last two months, the State Health Services Organization (OKYPY) has allegedly failed to implement effective measures. Additionally, the union expressed concerns regarding plans for a new facility with a capacity of only 14 people. No official response from OKYPY has been provided to address these specific grievances.
