24-year-old sentenced to ten years for stabbing in Paralimni

On Thursday, the Famagusta Permanent Criminal Court sentenced a 24-year-old man to ten years in prison following his guilty plea for a stabbing incident. The attack occurred on August 16, 2025, at a restaurant in the Kapparis area of Paralimni. The defendant, who had been released from prison just two days prior, initially entered the premises demanding money from a friend of his sister. When asked to leave by the 18-year-old son of the restaurant owner, the defendant returned shortly after and inflicted multiple stab wounds on the victim, including a kidney injury. Following the incident, police found the assailant wandering in his underwear in Paralimni; he was initially detained for causing a public disturbance before being linked to the stabbing. The court considered the defendant's previous criminal record, the severity of the offense, and the necessity to protect public safety.
