Candidacy submission process for religious group representatives in Cyprus
The chief returning officer of Cyprus has announced that candidacy submissions for the representatives of the Maronite, Armenian, and Latin religious groups will take place on May 6, 2026. Submissions will be accepted at the Ministry of Interior in Nicosia between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM. To be valid, each candidacy must be signed by four registered voters from the respective religious group, with two acting as nominators and two as seconders. Furthermore, candidates must provide written consent for their nomination, a deposit of €500, and a formal declaration of eligibility. Nomination forms are available for collection at the office of the chief returning officer on weekdays from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, excluding public holidays. The elections for these positions are scheduled for May 24, 2026, coinciding with the broader parliamentary elections for the 56 seats in the House of Representatives.
