Europa League semi-final first leg results

Nottingham Forest defeated Aston Villa 1-0 in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final at the City Ground. Chris Wood secured the win for the hosts with a penalty in the 71st minute. In the other semi-final, Braga beat Freiburg 2-1 in Portugal. The hosts took an early lead through Tiknaz in the 8th minute, but Vincenzo Grifo equalized for Freiburg in the 16th minute. Dorgeles scored the decisive goal for Braga in the second minute of stoppage time. The second legs are scheduled for May 7 at 22:00 at Villa Park and in Germany, respectively. The winners of these ties will proceed to the final in Istanbul on May 20.
