Father faints during cesarean section in Criciúma
On April 18, a man named Maicon Pedroso fainted in an operating room in Criciúma, Brazil, while witnessing the birth of his second daughter via cesarean section. His wife, Mariane Felipe, was undergoing the procedure when Pedroso, who was holding her hand, suddenly collapsed at 8:24 a.m. Medical staff immediately intervened to support him and move him to the floor. Photographers Patricia Vogel and Viviane Borges, who were hired to document the birth, captured the event on video. Pedroso regained consciousness shortly after the incident but reported that he had no memory of the moment the baby was born. The photographers noted that the procedure had been calm and professional before the fainting occurred. They also remarked that they have witnessed similar reactions in their experience covering over 1,500 births. Despite the temporary disruption, the father recovered quickly and was able to spend time with his child shortly thereafter.
