Convicted sex offender remains homeless in Nicosia after release from prison
A 51-year-old man, identified as N. K., was previously sentenced by the Nicosia Permanent Criminal Court to eight years in prison for the rape of a 38-year-old woman. The incident occurred in the public restrooms of Solomos Square in Nicosia, where the victim was assaulted after entering a facility that lacked interior lighting. According to court records, the perpetrator used force to commit two rapes during the encounter. N. K. was known to state authorities for years as he lived in a state of chronic homelessness and destitution in the city center. Following his release from prison, reports indicate he was seen wandering the same area and sleeping in the same public restrooms where the crime took place. His case highlights ongoing issues regarding state support for vulnerable and homeless individuals with a history of violent criminal behavior.
