ELAM removes Paphos candidate Kyriakos Photi Savva from election ballot

The political party ELAM has removed its Paphos election candidate, Kyriakos Photi Savva, from the ballot due to alleged disciplinary offenses. According to party spokesperson Marios Pelekanos, the decision followed repeated warnings regarding the candidate's failure to adhere to party directives. Reports suggest the friction was primarily caused by Savva’s active involvement in protests supporting the former Metropolitan of Paphos, Tychikos, which the party leadership sought to avoid. Additionally, sources indicate that a social media post by Savva regarding same-sex marriages at a monastery in Paphos caused further internal dissatisfaction. Savva’s campaign staff has officially requested a detailed explanation for the removal, noting that the campaign had been progressing smoothly until the sudden decision. The party plans to announce a new candidate for the Paphos district within the next few days. Official candidate nominations for the upcoming parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place on May 6.
