Knife attack in North London treated as terrorism
On April 29, 2026, a 45-year-old man was arrested after stabbing two Jewish men, aged 30 and 70, in the Golders Green area of North London. The Metropolitan Police have classified the incident as a terrorist attack and are investigating whether the Jewish community was specifically targeted. The victims were transported to a hospital and remain in stable condition. While some reports indicated one victim was in critical condition, official police sources have confirmed their condition is stable. The suspect was reportedly detained by members of the Shomrim volunteer security group before police arrived. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack as repugnant, while Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog, urged the British government to take decisive action to protect the Jewish community. Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis stated that more than words are needed to combat this form of hate.
