Cyprus Police Chief announces extensive staff reassignments
On Wednesday, April 29, the Chief of Police, Themistos Arnaoutis, announced a large-scale reassignment of police personnel. The changes affect a wide range of departments, including the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Traffic Department, Financial Directorate, and various local police stations. While provincial police directors remain in their current positions, leadership roles in the CID headquarters, the Financial Directorate, and the Nicosia CID have been changed. Additionally, assistant directors for Limassol and the Traffic Department were reassigned, and resources were reinforced within the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and Traffic Department. The move is primarily linked to recent promotions to the rank of sub-inspector, with newly promoted officers taking on more responsible duties. The reassignments are documented in a 17-page order signed by the Chief of Police. These changes take effect starting next Monday. Further personnel movements may occur in the near future to address staffing gaps and enhance operational efficiency.
