Limassol names Molos piers after Pavlos Kontides and Karolina Pelendritou
The Limassol Municipal Council held an official ceremony at the Multifunctional Seaside Park to rename two circular piers in honor of Cypriot athletes Pavlos Kontides and Karolina Pelendritou. Mayor Yiannis Armeftis presided over the event, which was attended by representatives of local organizations and the public. The decision to name the piers after the athletes serves as recognition of their contribution to international sports and their status as role models for the community. Pavlos Kontides, a Limassol native, is noted for winning the first-ever Olympic medal for Cyprus. Karolina Pelendritou is also recognized for her long-standing achievements in international athletics. The mayor stated that the act is intended to promote positive role models within public spaces. The renaming was carried out as a gesture of appreciation for their achievements and their connection to the coastal city.
