Iraklis negotiations with Walter Mazzarri fail
Iraklis FC and Italian coach Walter Mazzarri have failed to reach an agreement, ending the prospect of his appointment. The 64-year-old manager arrived in Thessaloniki on Wednesday, April 29, for formal discussions with club owner Panagiotis Monemvasiotis. While initial negotiations regarding a two-year contract were viewed with optimism by both parties, the deal collapsed during a meeting at a Thessaloniki hotel. Reports indicate that the disagreement stemmed from increased financial demands made by Mazzarri during the final stages of talks. The club had already characterized the initial terms as a significant financial stretch, rendering the revised requirements impossible to meet. Consequently, Iraklis is now actively searching for an alternative candidate to lead the team in the Stoiximan Super League. Mazzarri, known for his tenures at Napoli and Inter, remains without a club following his departure from Napoli in February 2024.
