Trial for the murder of Stavros Dimosthenous adjourned to May 27

The trial of six individuals accused of the murder of 49-year-old businessman Stavros Dimosthenous, which occurred on October 17, 2025, has been postponed by the Limassol Criminal Court. One of the six defendants was absent due to a recent surgical procedure, for which medical certification was provided. The five present defendants were unable to enter a plea, as their legal counsel cited a lack of complete evidentiary material and requested further clarification on the specific roles and involvement of each individual. Defense lawyers noted that they recently received large volumes of data, including two high-capacity hard drives, and requested a detailed index of the files. Furthermore, the defense stated that significant evidentiary material is still pending from the prosecution. The court rejected a request by the fifth defendant's attorney to be released until the proceedings resume. The case has been set to continue on May 27, by which time the court expects the outstanding issues regarding the evidence and disclosure to be resolved.
