Katina celebrates 100th birthday in London

Katina, a Cypriot immigrant born in Rizokarpaso on April 29, 1926, recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She moved to the United Kingdom in 1947 and taught herself English by observing signs and listening to the radio. During her life in the UK, she raised two daughters, Anna and Eleana, the latter of whom passed away in 2005. She is currently a resident of a care home in Finchley, London. Her family includes four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was recognized for her active involvement in the local community and the Rizokarpaso Association. The birthday event was attended by friends and family and included the receipt of a congratulatory card from the King.
