Donald Trump's approval ratings fall to historic low

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll concluded on Monday shows President Donald Trump’s approval rating dropped to 34%, down from 36% in a mid-April survey. This marks his lowest approval level since taking office in January 2025, when he held a 47% rating. Survey participants cited concerns over the rising cost of living and the ongoing war with Iran, which began on February 28, as primary reasons for their dissatisfaction. Only 22% of respondents approve of Trump’s handling of cost-of-living issues, a decrease from 25% previously. The data was collected mostly before the Saturday night shooting incident at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. Federal prosecutors have since filed charges against a suspect for the attempted assassination of the President. The economic impact, particularly surging gasoline prices linked to the military conflict, continues to fuel unease among voters, including members of his own party.
